The Art Collector’s Home

In a tranquil park setting in downtown Denver, Mark Haynes created a sophisticated design for his client’s Flour Mill loft apartment.

Mark’s inspiration grew from his client’s unique personality. He commented – “My interest in people precedes my interest in design. It’s a subtle but important difference allowing me to create nourishing spaces that complement the unique lifestyle of the client.”

Utilising the high ceilings, open concept and large windows with expansive views, Haynes included eclectic elements including an oversized mirror illuminating the open staircase, custom shelving made from blackened steel, and a modern two-tiered chandelier, intentionally over-scaled and selected for its resemblance to a factory gear that could have been used in the original flour mill.

Hayne’s passion and flair for surprise extends into the bathroom where he introduced our Royal Iris wallcovering into the scheme. The design is inspired by a deep and dark fantasy of nature. Though also available on grasscloth, the coated matt-sheen finish on non-woven paper was selected because it is durable and spongeable, and therefore suited a bathroom setting.

Haynes mixed this with a palette including white marble and Kelly Wearstler taps and shower fittings. To finish the look he also included an oversized mirror that reflects the light from the outside illuminating the open staircase, custom shelving made from blackened steel, and a two-tiered chandelier with 118 cut crystal globes.
