Emperor Damask

Emperor Damask is a refreshing take on a traditional damask motif. Tumbling, scrolling ribbons cascade through space, crossing paths but barely touching. The handsome, bold repeat of the design speaks to the grandeur of a tradition whilst, in ways, subverting it. The minimal, muted use of colour and the mesmeric intricacy of the stripes present the everunfurling motif with a pared-down elegance. Printed onto a fine cotton linen fabric, this modern interpretation of an age-old motif demonstrates the studio’s passion for drawing on the rich history of textile design to create iconic textiles for the present.
