Diagonal Gradient

Diagonal Gradient is a visual interpretation of light-speed travel. A series of shards chase and gain on one another across sharply angular diagonal paths. Some shards are saturated colour blocks, others are graded, fading from light to darker hues. Strikingly futuristic in its intriguingly complex intersection of pattern and colour, both the design and fabric draw on ancient traditions in a juxtaposition that has come to characterise the studio’s vision. The energetic, linear graphic can be read as a modern take on tartan, and, produced in the heart of one of the oldest and most enduring textile valleys in Italy, this intergalactic, near psychedelic design is realised in fabric using techniques grounded in artisanal practice.
